Studio Fee + Cost of the Ceramic = Final Cost
The studio fee will cover the use of paint & materials and the glazing & firing of all the pieces you complete for the day. It is a flat fee for the day per painter. Our standard adult studio fee is $9. For children ages 10 and under, the studio fee is $6. Ceramic pieces are individually priced based on complexity and size.
How does it work?
Step 1: You pick it.
We have a large selection of pieces, already molded and fired and ready for you to paint. We have a variety of different banks, boxes, figurines, plates, mugs, vases, platters, holiday/seasonal items, bathroom sets, desk accessories, picture frames, giant piggy banks, and more! We rotate our stock regularly to bring you new and exciting options each time you visit!
Step 2: You paint it.
No need for a smock! Our paints are nontoxic and water soluble.
We recommend you set aside at least an hour and a half for painting, particularly on your first visit. Some projects can be done faster, and some take more time or even multiple visits. Painting is meant to be fun, creative, and relaxing, so make sure you give yourself enough time to not feel rushed.
Our friendly staff will always go through the basic procedures with you and teach any basic techniques you’d like. They’ll be at the studio to assist you throughout your visit.
Step 3: We fire it.
The painted ceramic piece does not go home with you on the same day. All ceramic pieces are dipped in a clear glaze to completely coat and seal the project. It is then fired in our kiln at 1800°F, and must heat and cool naturally. The entire process usually takes about a week from start to finish.
Step 4: You take it.
The finished projects are ready one week after completion. All fired ceramics are non-toxic, food safe, and microwave safe. While the ceramic is dishwasher safe, we usually recommend hand washing to extend the life of the pieces. You can even put them in the oven, though we recommend letting it heat and cool naturally with the oven!
